CNY Visit to The Home For The Aged
27 Feb. A team of members from Lion Club of Kuching Host paid a Chinese New Year visit to Hun Nam Siang Tng Home for the Aged at Sekama Road, Kuching on 27th February, eve of the Lantern Festival which marks the end of the Chinese New Year celebration.
According to Lion Esther Law Lee Poh, the president of Lion Club of Kuching Host, the visit was to show love and care to aged residents of the old folk home. While most of us were greatly blessed and could celebrate the Chinese New Year with our loved ones, we should not forget and neglect those unfortunate old folks who had to spend the time all alone at the home without their family members by their side. Lion Esther Law believed that besides being law abiding citizens, we must not neglect our social responsibilities such as doing social and community works, helping and showing our love and care to the underprivileged and socially vulnerable groups. During the visit, the Lion Club of Kuching Host also presented red packets (Ang Pow) and love gifts to all the 34 residents of the Hun Nam Siang Tng Home for the Aged.
Lions Club of Kuching Host Shows Love to the Aged
Kuching 7 Feb: A group of members of Lions Club of Kuching Host together with their friends visited the House of Peace, a house for the aged situated at Jalan Landeh, Padawan, which was built by the Social Welfare Service Unit of the Roman Catholic Church. This was to demonstrate their love and care for the old folks staying in the house at the coming of the Chinese New Year, the year of the tiger.
It is heartening to note that while most people are busy preparing for the coming of the Chinese New Year, members of the Lions Club of Kuching Host led by the club president, Lion Esther Law Lee Poh, took time off from their busy schedule to pay a visit and to convey new year wishes to the old folks staying in the newly completed House of Peace.
It has always been the mission of Lions Club of Kuching Host to lead by example in promoting community social care. During this festive season when the air is bubbling with joy and merrymaking, the aged especially those at old folk homes would feel very lonely and neglected by the society. The visit by the members of the Lions Club of Kuching Host who also distributed “Ang Pow” to the old folks greatly lifted up their spirit and made them feel the joy and merriment of the festive season. As Lion Esther Law put it, the younger generation should remember to show love and care to their parents and to spend more time with them. This would be much more meaningful than anything else.
